Reading time ~1 minute

Joomla 1.6 includes a new feature called template styles. This gives you the ability to use a single template in many different ways by saving different sets of options as a style. Watch the Joomla 1.6 video on template styles to find out more.

This is a quick look at the Template Styles feature in Joomla 1.6.

The Template Styles list is like the template list in previous versions of Joomla. This is where you control the default or ‘home’ style for your website. You can select any of the styles then click Duplicate in the toolbar to create a copy of the style.

When you edit the style, you can change the options and you can optionally adjust the menu assignment (but you can also do this in when editting a menu item).

You can also change the template style of the menu item while editing (note, this does not apply to any children of that menu item).
